The anglerfish is a deepsea dweller known for its distinctive method of predation, employing a bioluminescent lure to attract prey in the dark ocean depths. This fascinating creature has a large head with an enormous, crescentshaped mouth filled with sharp, translucent teeth. The most notable feature of the anglerfish is its illicium, a modified dorsal fin spine that extends over its head, ending in a glowing lure called an esca. This adaptation helps it survive in the extreme environment of the deep sea where food is scarce. The anglerfish also exhibits a remarkable form of sexual dimorphism
