The Common Cockchafer, also known as Maybug or Doodlebug, is a large, brown beetle belonging to the Melolontha genus. Known for its distinctive antennae that resemble fans, the adult beetle emerges in late spring and early summer, often appearing in large numbers. This beetle's larvae, notorious as pests, develop underground over several years, feeding on the roots of plants which can result in significant agricultural damage.
