The Takin (Budorcas taxicolor), also known as the gnu goat, is a large, muscular, and somewhat goatantelopelike mammal native to the eastern Himalayas. It has a robust body covered in dense, oily, golden to brownish fur to protect it against the cold mountain climates. Takins are known for their distinctive large noses, which help warm the cold mountain air before it reaches their lungs. They have strong, short legs adapted for climbing steep, rocky slopes and are social animals often found in herds. Their unique appearance has made them a subject of fascination and study within the animal kin
