The stink bug, also known as Halyomorpha halys, is an insect from the family Pentatomidae. Native to East Asia, notably China, Japan, and Korea, this pest is notorious for the unpleasant odor it releases when disturbed or crushed. The brown marmorated stink bug has distinctive shieldshaped bodies that measure around 1.7 cm long. Having spread to numerous countries, including the United States, the stink bug has become a significant agricultural pest.
