Model Explorer by ZeroXR

How to open a 3D model inside a ZIP, RAR or 7z archive

Open 0xr.space, press Open and choose the .zip, .rar or .7z. The archive is unpacked in the browser, the model files inside are found, and a glTF's .bin and textures, or an OBJ's material library, are matched to it by name. Every model in the archive is imported, each with its own card. This works on the Quest, which has no unzip tool of its own.

A ZIP can be up to 3 GB and is read in pieces rather than all at once. A RAR or 7z can be up to 512 MB. Password-protected archives, split RAR parts and an archive inside an archive are not opened.

Steps

  1. Download the archive, on the computer, phone or headset.
  2. Open 0xr.space, press Open and choose the archive. Up to eight can be chosen at once.
  3. Read the review: it lists the models found and any texture the model names but the archive does not hold. Press Open.
  4. One model opens straight away; several land as cards in Recent.

Questions

Why are my textures missing?

The model names a file the archive does not contain. The review lists those names; choose the missing images too, or open the model anyway untextured.

Can it open a password-protected archive?

No. Remove the password, or extract the archive and open the files themselves.

My RAR is split into parts. What now?

Join the parts into one archive first; a single part is refused with a message saying so.

Is the archive uploaded?

No. It is unpacked on the device, and nothing is sent to a server unless you create a share link yourself.
