Model Explorer by ZeroXR

How to hide or delete parts of a 3D model

Open the model on 0xr.space, press More, then Explode, so each part can be picked on its own, and click, tap or pinch the part. Then press More, then Edit, then Hide or Delete. Undo and Redo step through the changes, and Keep as new saves the result as a new model beside the original; the row then reads Kept as with its name. It works in a browser, on an Android phone and in VR on Meta Quest.

Hide and Delete act on one part, never the whole model: with nothing picked, the dock says Pinch the part you want hidden: the whole model cannot be hidden. Until the parts are apart, or explore mode is on in VR, a press picks the whole model. Edit is not offered for Gaussian splats, and on a Quest a heavy model opens as a lighter copy that cannot be edited. A model kept as new can be downloaded as GLB, STL or USDZ from its card's three-dot menu on Home, with a free account: parts you deleted are left out, hidden ones are not.

Questions

What is the difference between Hide and Delete?

Both take the part out of view. Delete also leaves it out of the copy Keep as new saves; Hide does not.

Can I download the edited model?

Yes. Press Keep as new, then open the new model's three-dot menu on Home and choose Download GLB, Download STL or Download USDZ. Downloading needs a free account; the copy leaves out the parts you deleted.

Why does it say This model cannot be edited?

On a Quest, a heavy model is opened as a lighter copy, and that copy cannot be edited. Edit it on a computer or a phone instead.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Editing happens on the device, and nothing is sent to a server unless you create a share link yourself.
