Open 0xr.space on the Quest, press Open and choose the file. A heavy model is shown first as it is while a lighter copy of about 690,000 triangles, with its parts merged, is built on the headset; the copy then takes its place. A model over 1.5 million triangles gets a rough copy of 500,000 triangles first, then the finer one. The copy is kept, so later opens go straight to it.
A model over 5 million triangles, or with a thousand or more separate parts, is not drawn until its copy is ready, which can take 5 to 15 seconds. The original file is never changed. Some files are refused before that: STEP, IFC, Rhino, DXF and VRML over 4 million triangles, STL over 12 million. A Gaussian splat keeps its 500,000 most visible splats. The Quest app takes files up to 2 GB, and one video up to 3 GB.
No. It is kept beside the model on the headset, and deleting the model deletes it too.
A file picked in the app is written twice while it is imported, so it needs about twice its size free, plus 64 MB.
A computer draws the original without a copy, and holds up to 2 million splats where the Quest holds half a million.
No. The copy is built on the headset itself.
