Model Explorer by ZeroXR

How to share a 3D file to Model Explorer on an Android phone

Open 0xr.space in Chrome on the phone, choose Install or Add to Home screen in the browser menu, and open Model Explorer once from its icon. From then on it is in Android's share sheet for 3D files: in Files, Drive, a chat or a mail, press Share on the file and pick Model Explorer. It opens and imports the file the way Open does, review dialog included.

It takes every format Open does and several files at once, such as an OBJ with its .mtl and textures. Pictures, or one video, shared on their own are kept as a capture to make a model from, not opened as one. A share that arrives before the app has finished setting up says The shared file did not reach Model Explorer. Choose it with Choose files instead. The Google Play app does the same, but is still in closed testing.

Questions

Why is Model Explorer not in my share sheet?

Only the installed app is listed, not a browser tab. Install it from Chrome's menu and open it once.

Is the shared file uploaded?

No. It is kept on the phone until the app takes it, then stored with your other models. Nothing goes to a server unless you create a share link yourself.

Does this work on an iPhone?

No. Sharing a file into a web app is an Android Chrome feature. On an iPhone, press Open and choose the file.

Is there an app on Google Play?

Yes, but as of October 2026 it is in closed testing. The app installed from Chrome does the same.
